Frankfurt Airport Transportation

There are various means by which to get from Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt city centre by public transport.

Train

At the airport there are two railway stations. One of these is for regional trains while the other is for long distance ones. On an underground level of Terminal One is the Frankfurt Airport Regional Station which provides passengers with access to the S-Bahn rail lines S8 and S9 for commuters.

These trains leave the station in intervals of 15 minutes all throughout the day. The trains go west to Wiesbaden through Russelsheim and Mainz. Eastward, they go to Hanau through Frankfurt Central Station, Frankfurt city centre, and Offenbach am Main Ost. Commuting to the Frankfurt city centre by this means takes about 15 minutes. This train plies this route between 4.29am and 1.32am.

Buses

There are also buses that are regular with regards to time, and which stop at the bus station that is located at the front of the arrivals hall in Terminal One. There is also another bus bay in Terminal Two in front of the arrival and departure halls.

To get to Frankfurt city centre you should board bus 61 which serves the Frankfurt-Sudbahnhof route. One is however advised to seek comprehensive information at the information desk so as not to get the routes mixed up and thus board the wrong bus.

Taxi

There are a number of taxis that are available at the taxi ranks which are found outside both terminals for convenience. Since the airport is located in Frankfurt City Forest one can directly connect to the Frankfurter Kreuz Autobahn intersection where the A3 and A5 roads meet.

Depending on the level of traffic congestion the journey from the airport to Frankfurt city centre takes between 10 and 15 minutes by taxi. The airport avails taxis whose services are reliable and there are also other different service providers for the same purpose.
